Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Baku on Sunday evening, marking the start of a two-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
Araghchi was received at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Iran, Ali Alizadeh, along with diplomats from the Iranian Embassy in Baku, according to local reports.
The minister confirmed his trip earlier in the day through a statement on his Telegram channel, noting that meetings with senior Azerbaijani officials were on the agenda. His program includes talks with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and other government representatives.
Ahead of the visit, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran places significant importance on its relationship with Azerbaijan.
“Abbas Araghchi will visit Baku today. Tomorrow he will hold talks with Azerbaijani officials, including the foreign minister. Relations with Azerbaijan are very important for Iran,” Baghaei told reporters, as cited by Snn.ir.
