The United States has asked Azerbaijan to join an emerging international mission to ensure security in the Gaza Strip, according to sources cited by AnewZ TV.
Officials in Baku have yet to issue a final decision, the report said, noting that the proposal is currently under review.
“Azerbaijan’s position is clear,” one source told the outlet.
“Any participation must be based on a UN Security Council resolution that provides international legitimacy and a clearly defined mandate.”
The mission in question is not a traditional UN peacekeeping operation, but rather a coordinated international effort to stabilize Gaza after months of conflict.
Diplomatic sources added that Arab partners have praised Azerbaijan’s balanced stance, grounded in its longstanding ties with the Islamic world and cooperation with Palestine.
