Azerbaijan U-21 Holds Bulgaria to 1:1 in Euro Qualifiers

BAKU, September 9

Azerbaijan’s under-21 national team earned a 1:1 draw against Bulgaria in the Euro 2027 qualifying campaign.

The match, played at Liv Bona Dea Arena, saw Emin Rusamov put Azerbaijan ahead in the 41st minute with a well-taken goal. Bulgaria equalized later to secure a share of the points.

With head coach Ayhan Abbasov absent, the team was led from the touchline by his assistant, Elnur Chodarov.

The result gives Azerbaijan its first point in the qualifying stage, following a heavy 0:5 defeat to Portugal in the opening round.
