Azerbaijan will increase unemployment insurance payments next year, with 28 million manats allocated for this purpose in the 2026 budget of the Unemployment Insurance Fund, KhazarTV reports.
The figures were highlighted in the Chamber of Accounts’ assessment of the draft budget.
Economist Khalid Kerimli explained that unemployment insurance benefits are provided only to citizens who were officially employed under a labor contract and dismissed in accordance with the law. To obtain unemployed status, individuals must apply to local branches of the State Employment Agency or DOST centers.
Kerimli noted that the size of the payment is directly tied to a person’s previous salary, and the upcoming increase will be aligned with the rise in the minimum monthly wage.
According to projections, the average monthly unemployment insurance payment is expected to reach 441.67 manats by the end of this year and increase to 450 manats in 2026.
