Azerbaijan Signs Visa-Free Agreements with Somalia and Uganda for Diplomatic Passport Holders

Azerbaijan has signed visa exemption agreements with Somalia and Uganda for holders of diplomatic and official passports, marking a new step in strengthening its diplomatic outreach in Africa, Report informs.

According to Somalia’s Hiiraan outlet, the memorandum between Azerbaijan and Somalia was signed by Ali Mohamed Omar, State Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, and Samir Sharifov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda.

The Somali publication noted that the new agreement reflects a shared commitment to closer cooperation and high-level exchanges, calling it “an important step in deepening bilateral diplomatic relations.”

The two delegations also discussed broadening cooperation and identifying new areas of mutual interest.

Separately, Azerbaijan and Uganda also signed a mutual visa-waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic and service passports, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry confirmed.

The accords underscore Azerbaijan’s growing engagement within the Non-Aligned Movement and its efforts to expand partnerships across Africa through diplomatic and institutional collaboration.
