The number of Azerbaijanis receiving monthly social benefits and pensions rose by 20,000 in June, pushing the total above 865,000 people, according to MP Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship.
Of this figure, more than 462,000 are now receiving monthly social assistance, while pensioners account for over 403,000.
Bayramov, writing on Facebook, noted that the increase is mainly due to an expansion in the scope of government assistance programs and improved public awareness. By comparison, in June 2024, about 448,000 citizens were receiving social benefits, and more than 397,000 were drawing pensions.
“We’ve seen an increase of 14,000 in social benefit recipients,” Bayramov stated. “This is directly tied to the government’s decision to expand access to monthly aid and raise awareness about eligibility. For example, over 334,000 people received targeted state social aid at the start of 2025, compared to 275,000 during the same period last year.”
Bayramov emphasized that broader program outreach and greater inclusion have significantly boosted the number of beneficiaries across the country.
