BAKU, July 16 — Azerbaijan climbed four spots in the global broadband speed rankings in June 2025, reaching 83rd place out of 152 countries, according to the latest report from Speedtest Global Index.
The country recorded an average fixed broadband download speed of 81.36 Mbps, marking a twofold increase compared to the 2024 figure of 39.87 Mbps. This improvement reflects growing investments in digital infrastructure and expanded fiber-optic access.

Broader Trends
Azerbaijan’s year-over-year jump in broadband speed is one of the most significant improvements in the region. Analysts attribute this to:
-
Nationwide fiber-optic rollout programs
-
Public-private partnerships in digital infrastructure
-
Increased competition in the telecom sector
While mobile internet speeds remain competitive, fluctuations in rankings suggest potential issues with coverage density or peak-hour congestion in urban areas.
