As of July 1, 2025, 229,100 people are officially registered as unemployed with Azerbaijan’s State Employment Agency, according to the latest monthly data from the State Statistics Committee.
Women make up nearly half (49.2%) of the registered jobseekers, highlighting persistent gender imbalances in the country’s labor market.
The average monthly unemployment insurance payment currently stands at 436 manats (approximately $256 USD), offering limited relief amid rising living costs.
The figure comes as the country continues efforts to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on extractive industries. Economists have called for broader structural reforms, increased job training programs, and support for small businesses to address the employment gap—especially among young people and women.
