Azerbaijan Ready to Support Syria with Natural Gas Supply — Erdoğan

Azerbaijan has expressed readiness to assist Syria with natural gas deliveries, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan revealed in a press briefing following his visit to Azerbaijan.

According to Erdoğan, the proposal came directly from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during their bilateral discussions.

“During my meeting with my brother Ilham Aliyev, he told me, ‘We are ready to provide any kind of support regarding natural gas to Syria.’ This approach is extremely important,” Erdoğan stated.

He emphasized that energy remains one of Syria’s most urgent needs.

“Without natural gas, there’s no energy — and energy is a major issue for Syria right now. While Turkey is already trying to help to some extent, hearing this positive news from President Ilham made me feel truly at peace,” he added.

Erdoğan said he will immediately share this development with Turkey’s Minister of Energy, who will in turn inform Syrian leadership, signaling a coordinated humanitarian and logistical effort involving Ankara and Baku.

“Inshallah, we aim to combine our efforts with Azerbaijan’s support and take this step together. Steps have already been taken toward easing sanctions, and we intend to strengthen and continue this path,” Erdoğan concluded.
