Azerbaijan has launched a comprehensive review of citizens who previously received medical exemptions from compulsory military service, the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription (SSMC) confirmed.
Speaking at a meeting with civil society representatives, Colonel Aziz Khidayer, head of the SSMC’s Main Directorate for Organizational Oversight, said that individuals granted deferrals on health grounds in various years have been undergoing renewed medical evaluations.
According to Khidayer, over the past year the Service has re-examined a significant number of citizens who were previously deemed unfit for service due to health conditions. Those whose updated medical assessments show no serious health issues are now being directed to complete their military service.
The review process, officials say, is aimed at ensuring transparency and accuracy in medical exemptions and maintaining fairness in the conscription system.
