The Azerbaijani national Greco-Roman wrestling team finished third overall at the U-23 World Championships held in Novi Sad, Serbia, Report said.
Azerbaijan’s wrestlers won two gold medals and one bronze, earning a total of 93 team points — behind Iran (143) and Ukraine (96).
This marks the best result in the team’s history in terms of medal quality.
Under the leadership of head coach Aleksandr Tarakanov, senior coach Rovshan Bayramov, and coaches Hasan Aliyev and Kamran Mammadov, the Azerbaijani squad achieved a remarkable performance:
Elmir Aliyev (55 kg) – Gold Medal
Ziya Babashov (63 kg) – Gold Medal
Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg) – Bronze Medal
