Azerbaijan has extended a total of $42 million in humanitarian and reconstruction assistance to Ukraine, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev.
Speaking at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, Rafiyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s early and ongoing support since the onset of the crisis, noting that the aid included medicine, food supplies, electrical equipment, and other essential materials. Azerbaijani support also covers infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction projects in war-affected regions.
Rafiyev emphasized the severe humanitarian toll of the conflict, particularly on children. He announced that the number of Ukrainian children who have received medical and psychosocial rehabilitation in Azerbaijan has doubled compared to last year—reaching 330.
On the sidelines of the conference, Rafiyev held bilateral talks with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to discuss future areas of bilateral cooperation.
He also met with Italy’s Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli, where both sides reaffirmed the strategic nature of Azerbaijani–Italian relations. In addition to political and economic ties, Rafiyev noted growing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, calling the partnership “exemplary” in its depth and scope.
