Azerbaijan–Georgia Joint Projects Have Global Impact, Says Foreign Minister

July 22, 2025 – Tbilisi

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the global significance of joint infrastructure and energy initiatives between Azerbaijan and Georgia, describing them as key drivers of regional development and international cooperation.

Speaking at a press briefing alongside his Georgian counterpart Maka Bochorishvili in Tbilisi, Bayramov highlighted that the strategic partnership between the two countries continues to deepen, underscored by the symbolic nature of recent high-level visits. Notably, the first official foreign trip by Georgia’s Prime Minister following last year’s parliamentary elections was to Azerbaijan, as was President Salome Zurabishvili’s first international visit in April 2025.

“This is a strong reflection of the high regard both countries have for their relationship and the genuine friendship that drives the success of our joint projects,” Bayramov stated.

He noted that Azerbaijan is one of Georgia’s top investors, with total investments estimated at $3.6 billion. Among the major projects jointly implemented are the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Southern Gas Corridor, and the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway — all of which, he said, have had a transformative impact not only on the two nations but on the broader region.

“These initiatives contribute to the prosperity of our countries and people and carry weight on a global scale,” Bayramov said.

Looking ahead, he reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to further collaboration, especially in renewable energy. One major undertaking involves delivering green energy from Azerbaijan’s Caspian basin to European markets via Georgia and across the Black Sea — a project backed by close cooperation with European partners, including Ankara.

Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan and Georgia will continue working together to ensure the success of this and other strategic initiatives.
