Baku, September 3
Azerbaijan ramped up its agricultural exports in August, delivering millions of eggs and specialty products such as frog legs, fish roe and ice cream to markets spanning the United States, Europe and the Middle East, the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AFSA) reported.
According to AFSA, 4,320,000 eggs were exported to the United States — worth an estimated $650,000 at average wholesale prices — while 1,158,460 eggs were shipped to the United Arab Emirates, valued at roughly $175,000.
European markets saw a demand for unusual delicacies: Italy and France imported 3.6 tons of frog legs, estimated at around $45,000, while Australia, Albania and Canada received 42 kilograms of fish roe, worth nearly $3,000. Israel, meanwhile, imported 18 tons of Azerbaijani ice cream, valued at approximately $90,000.
Officials stressed that all shipments were carried out under international veterinary certification standards, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing role in supplying both staple foods and specialty products to overseas markets.
