Azerbaijan has expanded its fruit export map, sending peaches to Hong Kong, Romania, and Latvia for the first time.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the country exported 54,277 tons of peaches and nectarines worth $65.7 million between January and July. That represents a 72 percent increase in value and 76 percent rise in volume compared with the same period last year.
Russia remained the dominant buyer, taking 50,282 tons worth $60.9 million – up 65 percent in volume and 61 percent in value year-on-year. Ukraine imported 2,327 tons for $2.4 million, marking its first shipments from Azerbaijan in recent years.
Belarus sharply expanded purchases, buying 963 tons for $1.7 million, a 25-fold increase in volume. Exports to the United Arab Emirates climbed 86 percent to 180 tons, while Kazakhstan imported 246 tons, up 47 percent.
For the first time in at least 14 years of available trade statistics, Azerbaijan shipped peaches to Romania (35 tons worth $39,500), Latvia (19 tons worth $23,700), and Hong Kong (1.3 tons worth $11,800).
In 2024, nearly 97 percent of Azerbaijan’s peach exports – totaling 56,404 tons – went to Russia. This year’s diversification signals a push to reduce dependence on a single market and broaden access to European and Asian buyers.
