Azerbaijan has increased cargo transportation volumes along the Middle Corridor by 90% since 2022, while significantly cutting transit times, Prime Minister Ali Asadov announced at the plenary session of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan, Report reports.
“Azerbaijan makes a significant contribution to the development of the East–West and North–South transport corridors. The country’s assets — the largest merchant fleet in the Caspian Sea with more than 50 vessels, a shipyard currently building 10 new ships, the Baku International Sea Trade Port with a future capacity of 25 million tons per year, the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, nine international airports, and the region’s leading airline — have made Azerbaijan a key international transport hub,” Asadov said.
He noted that container block trains from several Chinese cities now reach Baku in just 10–12 days, underscoring the Middle Corridor’s importance as a vital trade route.
