Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Georgian counterpart Maka Bochorishvili during an official visit to Tbilisi, where the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic partnership across multiple sectors.
According to a statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting began in a one-on-one format and later continued with the participation of both delegations. The ministers exchanged views on the current state and future outlook of the friendly and strategic relationship between the two countries.
Both sides emphasized the importance of high-level political dialogue, reciprocal visits, and regular consultations in strengthening bilateral ties. They also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in key areas such as energy, transport, trade, tourism, and education.
Bayramov and Bochorishvili underscored the strategic significance of joint infrastructure projects like the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, and the Southern Gas Corridor, as well as new initiatives in green energy and digital connectivity. They praised the growing role of the East–West Middle Corridor in enhancing regional integration between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Economic and trade ties were highlighted as a success story, with both ministers noting the positive momentum in bilateral trade turnover. They also stressed the importance of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and pledged to continue close cooperation on international platforms and within regional frameworks based on mutual support.
The two foreign ministers discussed the potential for enhanced collaboration within trilateral and multilateral formats involving Azerbaijan, noting that Baku’s strong ties with Central Asian countries serve as a foundation for expanded regional partnerships involving Georgia.
Regional and international developments, including security issues of mutual interest, were also on the agenda.
Minister Bayramov briefed his Georgian counterpart on Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and redevelopment efforts in territories liberated from occupation, as well as the ongoing normalization process with Armenia. He welcomed Georgia’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue, including hosting several rounds of meetings since 2022.
However, Bayramov noted that Armenia’s continued constitutional claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity remain a serious obstacle to finalizing a lasting peace agreement.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.
