Azerbaijan Airlines Introduces On-Demand Rebooking for Delays and Cancellations

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), part of AZCON Holding, has launched a new digital insurance-style service allowing passengers to protect their trips from unexpected schedule changes. The service, known as DAFAR (Disruption Assistance For Any Reason), offers support in cases of flight delays or same-day cancellations.

According to AZAL’s press office, DAFAR is available when purchasing tickets on the airline’s website or mobile app. Once added, the system provides full protection against any schedule disruptions. To implement the service, AZAL partnered with HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions), a leading global travel-technology platform.

DAFAR is offered for an additional fee, with pricing depending on the route. After activation, the platform automatically monitors the status of the passenger’s flight. If a delay of two hours or more occurs, or if the flight is cancelled on the day of departure, passengers receive an instant notification and can choose between two options:

  • Rebook their trip with any airline operating on the same route, at no extra charge (within the set coverage limit);

  • Receive a full refund of the ticket price and, if desired, continue the trip using the original ticket.

Commenting on the launch, AZAL’s Commercial Director Jamil Manizade said:
“At Azerbaijan Airlines, we aim to introduce forward-thinking solutions that address the evolving needs of travelers. This partnership will enhance passenger loyalty and provide a more flexible, responsive service experience.”

Hopper and HTS co-founder Dakota Smith added:
