Armenia Invites Aliyev and Erdoğan to Yerevan Summit

Armenia has officially invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to take part in the European Political Community (EPC) summit, set to be held in Yerevan in May 2026, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Sunday.

“We have invited Azerbaijan and Turkey to participate in the summit at the highest level, and we are currently documenting the process,” Mirzoyan told reporters during a briefing.

The minister did not elaborate on whether Baku or Ankara had responded to the invitations.

If accepted, the participation of the Azerbaijani and Turkish leaders would mark a historic diplomatic milestone – the first time the two have attended an EU-led political forum hosted in Armenia.

Analysts say such a development could signal further normalization of ties between Yerevan, Baku, and Ankara following the peace framework signed in Washington this August.

Armenia is expected to host the next EPC summit as part of the rotating format launched by the European Union to promote political dialogue and security cooperation across the continent.

The previous EPC meeting took place in Budapest in October 2025, gathering more than 40 European leaders.
