The share of mobile devices in Azerbaijan’s electronics market continues to fall, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline.
According to the latest report by Statcounter, mobile devices accounted for 47.94% of all gadgets (including computers, smartphones, and tablets) in October – down 8.72 percentage points from September and 23.6 points lower year-on-year. Overall, the mobile segment has dropped by about 40% since early summer.
Computers Regain the Lead
While smartphone usage is slipping, computers are steadily regaining market dominance. Their share rose by 8.85 points in October and by 24.11 points compared to a year earlier, reaching 51.63% of the market.
Tablets, meanwhile, remain a niche category – just 0.44% of total device usage, a slight monthly decrease of 0.12 points and a yearly drop of 0.5 points.
Samsung Holds the Top Spot in Tablets
Samsung continues to lead Azerbaijan’s tablet market with a 39.77% share, up 1.82 points from September but 5.26 points lower than last year. In annual terms, the company’s market share slipped by 12%.
Apple, in second place, saw a 0.93-point monthly decline but gained 4.2 points year-on-year to reach 29.56%.
Xiaomi strengthened its position, adding 2.72 points over the month and 1.88 points over the year, climbing to 14.35%.
Android Share Drops Sharply, iOS Gains Ground
The share of the Android operating system on mobile devices fell to 78.33% in October – 11 points lower than in September and 4.66 points below last year’s level. The report notes that Android’s market share has declined for four months in a row, with a total decrease of 10.6%.
iOS, by contrast, continued to expand its presence, rising 1.17 points month-on-month and 4.83 points year-on-year to reach 21.2% of the market.
On tablets, Android gained 1.52 points during the month but lost 4.23 points over the year, holding 70.34% of the segment. iOS fell 0.93 points in October but rose 4.2 points compared to the previous year, maintaining 29.56%.
