Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks on the sidelines of the 7th European Political Community summit, focusing on peace efforts, humanitarian aid, and bilateral cooperation.
Zelensky thanked Azerbaijan for its humanitarian support to Ukraine, highlighting Baku’s assistance to Ukrainian children. He also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s “principled and consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The Ukrainian president congratulated Aliyev on the results achieved in Washington regarding the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Aliyev, in turn, said the steps taken toward peace hold “historic significance” and stressed that Azerbaijan would continue efforts to secure lasting stability in the region.
Both sides also discussed energy cooperation, underlining the importance of developing joint projects. Zelensky later posted on X (formerly Twitter):
