Washington, August 8 – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have signed a Joint Declaration following talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders in Washington.

During the ceremony, President Aliyev proposed to Pashinyan that they jointly submit a letter to the Nobel Committee recommending President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Donald Trump deserves this. In a short time, he was able to conclude a long and drawn-out negotiation process. We can write and submit the letter together,” Aliyev said.

Praising the results of the talks, Aliyev said the “Trump Route to Prosperity and Peace” would “break down barriers, build connections, and open major opportunities for investment, stability, and prosperity in several countries.”

He stressed that without President Trump, his team, and the efforts of Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, “Armenia and Azerbaijan would likely still be stuck in an endless negotiation process.”

Aliyev also announced that the long-standing Section 907 of the U.S. Freedom Support Act, in place for 33 years, had been repealed.

“Today, we are establishing peace in the South Caucasus — an achievement that is a great opportunity not only for our region but for the entire world,” the Azerbaijani leader said.
