President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday accepted the credentials of Mariyana Kujundzic, the newly appointed Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, during an official ceremony in Baku, Report said.
Recalling his recent meetings with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Tirana and Copenhagen, President Aliyev said that the discussions had focused on the future of Azerbaijan–EU cooperation. He noted the positive momentum in relations and highlighted the visits of three European Commissioners to Azerbaijan this year as a sign of deepening engagement.
Mariyana Kujundzic congratulated the president on the progress achieved in the Washington peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump. She praised Azerbaijan’s active regional diplomacy, citing recent international summits and President Aliyev’s high-level visits as clear examples of Baku’s growing diplomatic outreach.
Kujundzic emphasized the favorable prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, particularly in the energy and transport sectors, and reaffirmed the EU’s support for regional connectivity projects.
She added that the European Union will continue to assist Azerbaijan in mine clearance operations across the liberated territories.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the future of Azerbaijan–EU relations and their potential for further strategic partnership.
