President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in New York on a working visit to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He was accompanied by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. The couple was welcomed at John F. Kennedy International Airport by officials and representatives of the host country, according to Report.
During the visit, Aliyev held talks with Bruce Flatt, CEO of Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world’s largest alternative investment firms. Flatt recalled his 2023 visit to Azerbaijan, saying the country’s rapid development and economic achievements had left a strong impression. He underlined that Brookfield’s cooperation with the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) has been expanding successfully.
Later the same day, Aliyev met with George Walker, chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman. The discussions focused on the current state of cooperation between the U.S. investment management firm and Azerbaijan, as well as prospects for further deepening the partnership.
