MOSCOW, July 24, 2025 — Russia is not interested in severing its relationship with Azerbaijan, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk said in remarks to journalists, according to reports from Russian media.
“Neither Moscow nor Baku stands to gain from damaging economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan,” Overchuk stated, emphasizing that both sides understand the importance of maintaining cooperation.
The deputy prime minister acknowledged that there are mutual grievances between the two nations over certain actions, but stressed the need for restraint and calm. “Both Moscow and Baku may have concerns about each other’s actions, but it is essential to remain patient and composed,” he added.
His comments come amid heightened diplomatic tensions following recent geopolitical developments, including public criticisms exchanged between officials of both countries and legal actions pursued by Azerbaijan in international courts.
