Baku, July 18, 2025 — Azerbaijan is intensifying efforts to diversify its economy and expand non-oil exports, as highlighted during a recent meeting between the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and a mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to AZPROMO, discussions focused on strategies for diversifying export products, expanding export geography, and identifying areas where ADB could provide technical support to boost Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector.
Tural Hajili, Deputy Executive Director of AZPROMO, presented an overview of the agency’s work, including mechanisms used to promote non-oil exports, key product groups in Azerbaijan’s non-energy export portfolio, target markets, and industrial sectors with strong export potential.
ADB’s Chief Economist Kristian Rosbach emphasized the significance of the mission, noting that this is the bank’s first focused study on value chains in Azerbaijan. He added that a similar analysis had previously been conducted in Georgia.
Both sides agreed to collaborate on a set of joint proposals and to share the results of AZPROMO’s research on export potential as part of a broader effort to strengthen economic diversification and reduce dependence on hydrocarbon revenues.
