Baku — September 5
Delegations of Azerbaijan and Armenia, led respectively by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, held reciprocal visits on each other’s territories today, the Azerbaijani government confirmed.
The meetings followed the August 8 Washington agreements and focused on the next steps in border delimitation, mine clearance, and the restoration and construction of infrastructure along sensitive segments of the frontier. Officials also discussed timelines to ensure synchronized progress in establishing new cross-border communications.
Both sides reviewed modalities for convening the next session of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border of Azerbaijan and Armenia and the Commission on Border Delimitation and Border Security of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The reciprocal visits marked a further step in the cautious but ongoing dialogue aimed at reducing tensions and implementing agreements reached under international mediation.
