Azerbaijan’s national football team is aiming for a strong performance in its upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Iceland, midfielder Rahman Dashdemirov told reporters ahead of the game.
“We prepared thoroughly for this match. We believe tomorrow’s result will be successful for us. We studied the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. We don’t want to return to Baku empty-handed. Our goal is to achieve a result and earn points,” Dashdemirov said to Report.

The match Iceland vs. Azerbaijan will take place on September 5 in Reykjavik, with kickoff at 22:45 Baku time.
