BAKU — September 2, 2025.
Maternal and infant mortality rates in Azerbaijan dropped in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to new figures from the State Statistics Committee.
The annual Demographic Indicators of Azerbaijan report recorded 29 maternal deaths last year, down from 33 in 2023.
Cases of infant mortality fell more sharply — to 1,420 in 2024 from 2,039 in 2023.
The committee noted that the decline reflects improvements in maternal care and newborn health services, though continued investment in healthcare remains key to sustaining the trend.
