Pashinyan: Armenia Committed to U.S.-Brokered Peace

TIANJIN — September 1, 2025. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the SCO Plus summit in China that Yerevan remains firmly committed to the agreements reached with Azerbaijan in Washington earlier this month and is determined to implement them quickly.

“I want to reaffirm Armenia’s commitment to the agreements reached, and we are determined to realize them in the shortest possible time,” Pashinyan said, according to TASS. He stressed that new transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan will benefit not only the two countries but also SCO member states.

A “historic turn” in the region

Pashinyan described the August 8 Washington Declaration, signed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev under the auspices of U.S. President Donald Trump, as “a historic turn that will have much broader impact on the region.”

The prime minister said the agenda now centers on opening transport routes on the basis of sovereignty and territorial integrity, which he argued would bring both domestic and international advantages.

“Trump Route” investment program

He also underlined that Armenia and the United States are launching an investment initiative in communications infrastructure called the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity”—a program linked to the Zangezur corridor.

“This program will expand, attract investment, and ensure that not only Armenia and Azerbaijan but also the wider region gains new logistics opportunities,” Pashinyan said.
