Baku, August 28, 2025 — Azerbaijan has improved its position in UEFA’s coefficient table after Qarabağ FK advanced to the Champions League group stage, despite a home defeat to Hungary’s Ferencváros.
By qualifying on aggregate, Qarabağ secured six bonus points, which under UEFA rules are divided by the number of national representatives in European competitions. With four Azerbaijani clubs competing this season, the country’s tally increased by 1.500 points.
This boost lifted Azerbaijan to 21.000 points, moving past Ukraine (19.850) and Slovenia (20.468) to rise from 28th to 26th place in the UEFA rankings.
Club Contributions This Season
So far, Azerbaijani clubs have collected 3.875 points this season:
Qarabağ: 2.750
Sabah: 0.625
Araz-Nakhchivan: 0.375
Zira: 0.125
Qarabağ remains the driving force, carrying the nation’s UEFA ambitions.
Rankings Still Fluid
However, Azerbaijan’s position is not yet secure. Clubs from both Slovenia and Ukraine are scheduled to play in the Europa League and Europa Conference League today, which could affect the standings.
