Vafa Jafarova, 55, has become Azerbaijan’s oldest university student this year, securing a spot at Sumgayit State University as a sub-bachelor (college graduate).
In an interview with Khazar TV, Jafarova shared that she kept her plans quiet but was confident her family and colleagues would respect her decision.

“Education has always been my dream, and age should never be a barrier,” she said.
According to the State Examination Center, Jafarova was among 88,756 applicants who took part in the admissions process this year. A total of 57,236 were admitted, including 6,461 sub-bachelors.
