Azerbaijan’s air transport sector recorded a notable rise in passenger revenue during the first half of 2025, despite an overall drop in total air transport income.
According to the State Statistics Committee, total revenues from air freight and passenger services reached 1.98 billion manats, down 9.6% from the same period last year (2.18 billion manats).
The decline was mainly due to a sharp drop in cargo revenues, which fell 13.9% to 1.11 billion manats, with most income (1.108 billion manats) coming from international shipments. Domestic freight contributed just 532,400 manats, down 23.4% year-on-year.
In contrast, passenger transport revenues grew significantly in the domestic segment, rising 34.5% to 38.1 million manats, even though total passenger revenue edged down 3.4% to 869.4 million manats due to weaker international demand.
During the reporting period, air cargo volumes dropped 10.5% to 187,600 tons, while passenger traffic increased 2.6%, reaching 1.86 million people.
