Azerbaijan add two more medals at U20 Worlds in Bulgaria

SAMOKOV, Bulgaria — August 24, 2025. Azerbaijan’s tally at the U20 World Wrestling Championships rose to eight medals as Turan Dashdamirov took silver at 55 kg Greco-Roman and Faraim Mustafayev claimed bronze at 67 kg. Dashdamirov fell 5–3 in the final to Iran’s Payam Ahmadi Balootaki after a clash of reigning U17 world champions, while Mustafayev edged Japan’s Takaku Suzuki 5–4 in his bronze match.

In the 72 kg repechage, Seymur Gasimov lost by fall to Kazakhstan’s Yussuf Ashrapov.

Earlier in Samokov, Aykhan Javadov (GR 60 kg) won gold; Ruzanna Mammadova (WW 62 kg) took silver; Gunay Gurbanova (WW 59 kg) earned bronze; and in men’s freestyle Vasif Baghirov (57 kg), Nurlan Aghazada (70 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) also won bronze.
