Baku, August 23, 2025 – Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has begun development at an oil field in Uzbekistan under a signed contract, President Ilham Aliyev said at a high-level trilateral meeting with Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in Turkmenbashi. He added that Baku expects “good news” within one to two years.
Aliyev framed the project as part of expanding regional energy ties: Azerbaijan has “traditional” cooperation with Turkmenistan and is now stepping up with Uzbekistan, he noted.
