Baku — Azerbaijan has extradited one of India’s most notorious gangsters, Mayank Singh, who was arrested in Baku last year and flown to Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, under heavy security escort.
According to Indian media, Singh is the first gangster from Jharkhand ever extradited from abroad. He had been on Interpol’s Red Notice list and carried a sprawling criminal record — over 45 cases, including murder, extortion, armed assault, intimidation, and criminal conspiracy.
Singh was a childhood associate of infamous crime boss Lawrence Bishnoi, and before fleeing India he carried out a string of high-profile crimes across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.
Indian counter-terrorism officers arrived in Baku earlier this week to coordinate his extradition, which New Delhi is touting as a major breakthrough in cross-border law enforcement cooperation.
