Azerbaijani Wrestler Wins Bronze at U20 World Championships

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Vasif Baghirov has claimed the bronze medal at the U20 World Wrestling Championships held in Samokov, Bulgaria.

On the third day of the competition, Baghirov (57 kg) dominated Japan’s Rin Sakamoto in the repechage round with a convincing 10:2 victory. In the decisive bronze-medal match, he overpowered Ion Bulgariu of Moldova, winning 8:2 and securing a place on the podium.

This marks an important achievement for Azerbaijan’s wrestling tradition, continuing the country’s strong presence in international competitions.
