Baku, August 19, 2025 – Crude oil continued to dominate Azerbaijan’s foreign trade in the first seven months of the year, though both volumes and revenues fell compared to 2024, according to data from the State Customs Committee.
From January to July 2025, the country exported 14.47 million tons of oil, 1.5% less than in the same period last year. The value of these exports dropped more sharply, declining by 17% to $7.66 billion.
Oil accounted for 50.31% of Azerbaijan’s total exports in the reporting period, down from 57.31% in January–July 2024.
2024 Figures
In 2024 overall, Azerbaijan exported 23.6 million tons of oil, generating $14.44 billion in revenue. That marked a 9.4% decrease in physical shipments and an 11.1% decline in value compared with 2023.
Despite the reduction, crude oil remains the single largest contributor to the country’s export basket, underlining its continued centrality to the national economy.
