Azerbaijan’s Internet Speed Doubles, Country Climbs in Global Rankings

BAKU, Aug. 18, 2025 — Azerbaijan has made a sharp leap forward in global internet speed rankings, according to the July update of the Speedtest Global Index.

The country now ranks 81st out of 153 nations for fixed broadband, with an average speed of 82.58 Mbps. That figure marks a two-fold increase from last year’s 40.65 Mbps. Singapore tops the chart with 386.96 Mbps, while Syria remains at the bottom with just 3.29 Mbps.

On mobile internet, Azerbaijan placed 56th out of 104 countries, clocking in at 74.76 Mbps, though slipping one place compared with June. The United Arab Emirates continues to lead with 584.97 Mbps, while Bolivia sits at the bottom with 14.7 Mbps.

In the capital, Baku’s fixed broadband speed averaged 83.27 Mbps, pushing the city up three places to 112th out of 198. For mobile, Baku rose four spots to 83rd globally with 93.16 Mbps.

Among cities, Abu Dhabi tops the broadband list with 353.22 Mbps, while Aleppo ranks last at 2.73 Mbps. For mobile, Qatar’s Al Rayyan leads with 581.31 Mbps, while Bolivia’s La Paz trails at 11.12 Mbps.
