Respiratory Illnesses Remain Most Common Among Infants in Azerbaijan

Baku, August 18, 2025 — Respiratory diseases were the most common illnesses affecting children under one year old in Azerbaijan last year, according to new data from the State Statistics Committee.

The report shows that 289.7 cases per 1,000 infants involved respiratory conditions. Other frequently recorded illnesses in this age group included nervous system and sensory organ disorders (94.6 cases per 1,000) as well as infectious and parasitic diseases (65.9 cases per 1,000).

Among one-year-old children in 2024, respiratory illnesses also topped the list, with 30.8 cases per 1,000, followed by nervous system and sensory organ disorders at 10.1 cases per 1,000.
