Washington, August 13, 2025 — The recent agreements between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States have the potential to transform the South Caucasus region, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said during an official press briefing. She emphasized that the trilateral economic accords will open new avenues for trade, transit, energy, infrastructure, and technology, benefiting both the region and American companies.
Bruce further described the peace declaration between Baku and Yerevan as a validation of President Donald Trump’s role as “a leader of peace.” She highlighted that the U.S.-brokered economic agreements “unlock the significant potential of the South Caucasus in the areas of trade, transit, energy, infrastructure, and technology” and create opportunities for American businesses.
These statements come after the signing on August 8 at the White House of a Joint Declaration between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and President Trump. The declaration launched the formation of a Strategic Working Group, tasked with developing a Strategic Partnership Charter between the U.S. and Azerbaijan.
The accord also includes U.S. access and development rights over a critical transit route, known as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), through Armenia’s Zangezur corridor, providing passage from Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave — a key feature of the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace agreement.
At a separate press briefing, Bruce reaffirmed the U.S.’s enduring commitment to promoting stability in the region, telling Armenpress that Washington would continue monitoring developments and stand ready to support initiatives aimed at dismantling longstanding transport and security barriers in the South Caucasus. Similar sentiments were echoed by ARKA News Agency, which reported that the State Department views the agreements as a significant step toward lasting peace and prosperity.
