Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will sign a letter of intent — not a finalized peace agreement — during their upcoming meeting at the White House, Middle East Eye reports, citing sources.
According to the outlet, the signing will give U.S. President Donald Trump a diplomatic achievement he has been seeking in the region since last month.
One source told Middle East Eye that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov called his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Monday to inform him about the planned meeting in Washington.
