WARSAW, August 4, 2025 — Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili, an Olympic bronze medalist and European champion, has secured a gold medal at an international wrestling tournament held in the Polish capital.
Competing in the 125 kg weight class, Meshvildishvili triumphed at the traditional memorial tournament in Warsaw, dedicated to the legacy of renowned Polish wrestlers. The event ran from July 30 to August 3 and brought together top athletes from across the globe.
The seasoned wrestler returned to the mat after skipping last month’s ranking tournament in Hungary due to injury. His performance in Warsaw marks a strong comeback ahead of upcoming international competitions.
