Speaking at the UN conference in New York on implementing the two-state principle, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa went beyond calls for the creation of a Palestinian state.
This was reported by the Wafa agency.
“To implement the two-state principle, where Israel and Palestine will not only coexist but also thrive, it is necessary to end the occupation, settlements, and annexation. But we also need to reunite Gaza with the West Bank and East Jerusalem,” he stated.
“Gaza must come under the authority of the Palestinian government. We must end Hamas’ rule in the sector, and they must lay down their arms and transfer them to the Palestinian Authority. We are ready to invite an international and regional contingent into Gaza, which will operate under the UN mandate,” the Palestinian politician added.
He emphasized that the UN mission to stabilize the situation in Gaza will not act instead of Palestinian authorities but together with them. Mustafa also urged all countries of the world to contribute to the realization of the two-state principle.
