Ukraine Opens New Gas Corridor: First Deal with SOCAR Energy Ukraine

Kyiv – July 28, 2025 – Naftogaz Group of Ukraine has signed its first agreement with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a subsidiary of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR, for the purchase of natural gas.

According to a statement from Naftogaz’s press service, this marks the first test delivery of Azerbaijani gas via the Trans-Balkan route through Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine.

“This is a small-scale delivery, but it is a strategically important step that paves the way for long-term cooperation,” said Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretskyi. “It also demonstrates our continued efforts to diversify supply sources and strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. We are grateful to our colleagues in Azerbaijan for their trust.”
