REIN-RUHR, July 25, 2025 — Azerbaijani judoka Eljan Hajiev has claimed a silver medal at the World Summer University Games taking place in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany.
Competing in the 90 kg weight category, Hajiev advanced to the final after a strong showing throughout the tournament. In the gold medal match, he faced South Korea’s Kim Jong Hoon but was narrowly defeated, securing second place on the podium.
This marks Azerbaijan’s fourth medal at the current Universiade. The nation’s rhythmic gymnastics group previously earned two golds and one silver, continuing a successful run for Azerbaijani athletes at the international student competition.
