Azerbaijan’s Banking Sector Posts Strong Growth, Assets Surpass 56 Billion Manats

BAKU, July 25, 2025 — Azerbaijan’s banking sector continues to show robust growth, with total assets reaching 56.73 billion manats as of July 1, according to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA). This marks a 12.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Net loans to clients accounted for 26.78 billion manats, or 47.2% of total assets. While the loan portfolio grew by 11.7% over the year, its share in total assets slightly declined from 47.6%.

Total liabilities of the banking sector rose by 12.9% to 49.79 billion manats. Deposits grew by 6.2% to 37.35 billion manats, with household deposits rising by 8.5% to 15.06 billion manats, and corporate deposits increasing by 4.6% to 22.29 billion manats.

Notably, bank liabilities to the CBA dropped significantly — by a factor of 94.2 — to just 0.5 million manats.

The sector’s equity capital also saw growth, increasing by 11.3% year-on-year to 6.95 billion manats.
