BAKU, July 24 — Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with the European Union reached $10.46 billion in the first half of 2025, marking a 22.6% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the State Customs Committee.
Exports to EU countries grew by 24.2% year-over-year, totaling $9.04 billion, while imports from the EU rose by 13.5% to $1.42 billion. The EU accounted for 70.2% of Azerbaijan’s total exports and 12.3% of its imports during the reporting period.
Italy remained Azerbaijan’s top EU trade partner, with bilateral trade volume hitting $6.24 billion. Azerbaijani exports to Italy stood at $5.99 billion, and imports at $248.8 million — up 27.5% and 15.2% respectively from the previous year.
Germany followed with a total trade volume of $767.3 million, including $320.3 million in exports and $447 million in imports. While exports rose slightly by 0.4%, imports surged by 16.4%.
Trade with the Czech Republic reached $485 million — $450.8 million from exports and $34.2 million from imports. However, total trade volume fell by 6.3% due to an 8.4% drop in exports, even as imports jumped by 36.7%.
Azerbaijan-Greece trade stood at $397.2 million, including $372.4 million in exports and $24.8 million in imports. Compared to last year, exports increased by 10.6%, but imports declined by 17.6%.
Spain’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan amounted to $117.7 million, with imports from Spain totaling $111.7 million and exports just $6 million — an 8.2-fold decline in exports, despite a 65.2% increase in imports.
