DUBLIN, July 23 — Azerbaijani champions Qarabağ FK made a powerful statement in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, securing a commanding 3–0 away win over Irish side Shelbourne FC.
Playing at Dublin’s Tolka Park, the visitors took control early and never looked back. Leandro Andrade opened the scoring in the 13th minute, giving Qarabağ a confident start.
In the second half, the pressure mounted as Qarabağ doubled their lead through Aleksey Kashchuk in the 81st minute, before Nariman Akhundzade sealed the victory just four minutes later, netting the third in the 85th.
The result puts Qarabağ in a dominant position ahead of the return leg, which will be played on July 30 in Baku.
Should they progress, Qarabağ will face the winner of the tie between Shkëndija (North Macedonia) and FCSB (Romania) in the third qualifying round.
