Azerbaijan and Turkey Sign Memorandum on Military Security

ISTANBUL, July 22 — On the sidelines of the “IDEF 2025” 17th International Defence Industry Fair, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov held a high-level meeting with Turkish National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler in Istanbul.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, the two ministers discussed the current state and future of military, military-technical, and defense education cooperation between the two allied nations. Both sides emphasized the strategic significance of the IDEF exhibition as a platform for strengthening bilateral defense ties.

The talks also covered broader regional security developments and other issues of mutual interest, reflecting the deepening defense partnership between Ankara and Baku.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry, Vugar Mustafayev, was also present during the meeting.

At the conclusion of the talks, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Enhancing Mutual Military Security, further institutionalizing their commitment to collective defense and long-term strategic cooperation.

The agreement underscores both nations’ shared vision for regional stability and highlights Turkey’s growing role as a defense partner in the South Caucasus.
